First shipment of Iron Concentrate for Iluka Resources a Success
- 10,000 tonne parcel of iron concentrate was successfully loaded in May 2011.
- The product flowed easily with no hang-ups and the loading rate was acceptable considering less than ideal conditions.
- Product dusting was almost non-existent which had been the prime focus of the Dept of Environment and Conservation.
- Bunbury Port Authority and DEC monitoring showed very low levels of dusting, an order of magnitude below allowable limits.
- Future shipments are expected to have improved productivity while maintaining high environmental standards.
