Port Adelaide, the principle port of South Australia, is situated on the eastern side of the Gulf of St Vincent, within easy reach of the main shipping lane between the west and east coast ports of Australia.
The port consists of the Inner and outer harbours and lies within the metropolitan area of the City of Adelaide. Entrance to port Adelaide from the gulf of St Vincent is by way of a 183m wide channel protected on either side by breakwaters.
The depth of water in the channel is 9.36m L.W.
POAGS operate facilities in both Wallaroo and Port Giles with labour and equipment being supplied from Adelaide. Wallaroo is situated on the eastern side of Spencer Gulf 158 Km north west of Adelaide and the principal commodities handled are grain exports and fertiliser imports. Port Giles is located on the eastern side of St.Vincent Gulf 217 Km by road from Adelaide and the principal commodity handled is grain exports.
Port Pirie is another port we operate in a joint venture with Capital P&O Logistics which is situated 223km north of Adelaide. Commodities handled in this port are Grains & Seeds, Mineral Concentrates, Coal, Zinc & Lead, and General Cargo.
